Location is exellent - 5 mintures form Opera Garnier. You have kitchen facilities in your room - that is sometimes could be very convenient.
Room is outdated. I lived on the `ground floor - it was very noisy.

Nicest, most helpful staff in the world, let alone Paris. Excellent location for visiting Paris. Excellent apartment for families, with kitchen with dishwasher, oven, etc., and even a balcony.
Wi-fi didn't work for Mac's. Toilet wouldn't flush, but they had no one on staff in the evening would even make an attempt at helping. The rooms are a little worn and dated, it is not comparable to other 4-star hotels, if you care about that.

Location
We were in Paris during a heatwave and the room was advertised as having air conditioning. The air conditioning unit was a standalone and pumped cold air out the front and very hot air out the back so it did nothing to cool the room and in fact made it hotter. It reached almost 40 degrees Celsius one day and we couldn't sleep, eat or do anything in the room which defeated the purpose of having an apt hotel. As a result, we spent more money eating out just to find somewhere air conditioned. After a long day of sightseeing you want to relax in your room but that didn't happen at Metropole We would not recommend or stay at this hotel ever again. Particularly if its in the summer. Not to mention the room is very dated in its decor and not much to look at aesthetically. We stayed in many apt hotels across France during our trip and this one was by far the worst!!!

Location, a very helpful staff member called Valentina (very helpful in providing good tourist information).
There were 2 old French ladies at the reception who were frightfully rude and unhelpful. No matter what question you asked them (especially one of them), they will respond negatively. They should definitely retire. We had to wait for the young lady, Valentina, everyday to answer our questions and any help we needed (calling a taxi etc) simply because the old hags were so rude. There was a little problem with the washbasin in the bathroom on the first day, but Valentina fixed it. We had an apartment so we were able to cook a little bit. But they need to have a microwave oven in those apartments. It was quite inconvenient (especially if you are living in the 21st century).

Good Hotel location - nearby the Opera. Accordingly, transport (Metro. RER. Ruissy-Bus etc.).

The suite was modern, spacious, and comfortable, with a well-appointed bathroom that had ample hot water. The air conditioning operated effectively, and I appreciated the hotel's central location in the 2nd arrondissement, just steps away from the Quatre-Septembre Metro...

The room was clean and kitchen was enough equipped. We stayed in 2-room apartment and the sofa bed there was big and comfortable enough for 2 person to sleep. Receptionists are very helpful.
As the others mention, room is clean but a bit old and basic. So, if you expect something gorgeous for this hotel (as this is 4 star), you will be disappointed. But considering the location, cleanness, and service, the price is reasonable, I guess.

We were grateful to be able to book into our room early after travelling for 30 hours from Australia. The position of the hotel in Paris made sightseeing very easy to get to.
